Doctors who say that it is ok to give hypnotherapy or self hypnosis for weight loss a try are quick to point out that it is just one piece of the puzzle.
Self hypnosis for weight loss is not going to solve the problem. Instead, it is one tool in your toolbox. You will still need these other tools if you wish to lose weight in a healthy way.
Proper Diet
While many people wish there were a way to lose weight while eating whatever they want, the truth is that such a plan does not exist. In order to shed extra pounds and maintain optimum health, you must learn what it means to eat a well-balanced diet.
If you need to visit a nutritionist in order to learn the basics, it is worth the time and money to do so.
There is no hypnosis that can teach you to eat right, so you’ll need to do that on your own.
Exercise Plan
To lose weight and be fit you will also need to exercise. At a minimum, you should do thirty minutes of cardio several times a week. You should also add strength training in order to get the most benefit.

Avoid Rapid Weight Loss
Any self hypnosis for weight loss that promises rapid weight loss should be avoided. Any weight loss greater than two to three pounds per week is not advised. Studies show that when weight is lost at a gradual pace, it is easier to keep the weight off.
If you are interested in trying hypnotherapy or self hypnosis for weight loss, do so with an understanding that it does not take the place of common sense, proper diet and exercise.
That being said, it can be a valuable addition to your arsenal of weight loss tools. As anyone who has struggled to lose weight can attest, the more tools available to fight the battle of the bulge, the better.
